Adriatica monobloc water softeners in white and black with 8100 valve
The Adriatica available in black, white with blue cap and white, fitted with the 8100 valve.

General overview

The Adriatica is a monobloc water softener fitted with the 8100 volumetric electronic valve. Its monobloc design integrates the resin vessel directly inside the brine tank, significantly reducing the floor footprint compared with a conventional twin-tank system. Available in seven capacities — 10 L, 14 L, 16 L, 18 L, 22 L, 25 L and 30 L — and in three colours (black, white with blue cap, white), the Adriatica covers every residential need, from a studio apartment to a large family home.

The cabinet is moulded from injection-moulded polystyrene, reinforced with lateral stiffeners that guarantee structural rigidity even when the brine tank is loaded to full capacity. This mechanical robustness, combined with a high-quality composite resin vessel gives the Adriatica remarkable longevity.

Certifications — The Adriatica is CE, NSF, RoHS, Water Quality and ACS certified, ensuring compliance with the strictest standards for drinking water contact.

DIMM distributes the Adriatica range across Europe. All models are held in permanent stock, with fast delivery and full technical support.

The 8100 valve — standard equipment

The Adriatica is primarily sold with the 8100 valve, a reliable and proven volumetric electronic valve. This controller manages the entire regeneration cycle autonomously.

Valve 8100 features

  • Intuitive programming — large backlit LCD screen and 3 push buttons for quick setup
  • Regeneration type — co-current
  • Regeneration mode — volumetric with calendar override + holiday mode
  • 6 adjustable cycles — optimised regeneration based on consumption profile
  • Volumetric regeneration — the cycle triggers automatically when resin capacity is depleted, measured by a built-in volumetric meter
  • Programmable time-clock regeneration — option to force a cycle at regular intervals to prevent bacterial stagnation
  • Combined mode — blends both modes for optimal management
  • Manual override — a single button press triggers a regeneration at any time

Construction and technical specifications

The 8100/1600 valve stands out through the quality of its materials and performance:

  • Glass-filled PPO body — polyphenylene oxide, resistant to corrosion and mechanical stress, for extended service life
  • Brass piston with low-friction coating — reduces wear and extends service life
  • Hydraulically balanced piston concept — quiet operation under balanced pressure with minimal mechanical stress
  • Service flow rate — up to 4.5 m³/h, ideally suited for residential use including high-consumption households
  • Compatible vessels — 6", 10" and 12"
  • Connections — Bypass 1" female, reduction fittings 1"M
  • Service pressure — 2 to 8.6 bar
  • Service temperature — 4 to 43 °C

Other valves available — The Adriatica is also available with the Fleck 5600 SXT valve or the 8200 Electronics valve (new generation, based on Pentair/Fleck 5600SXT technology, with improved LCD screen and simplified user interface). Contact DIMM for more information on these variants.

Design and monobloc construction

The Adriatica stands apart from conventional softeners through its monobloc architecture. The composite resin vessel is integrated inside the brine tank, delivering several practical advantages:

  • Reduced footprint — a single unit instead of two separate components (vessel + tank)
  • Dual safety — integrated bypass and mixing valve included as standard, for precise water hardness adjustment
  • Clean aesthetics — the monobloc cover features a translucent section that allows the valve status to be checked without dismantling anything

The Adriatica brine tank holds salt (capacity varies by model), which extends the interval between refills and reduces service visits. The dual-safety brine float protects against overflow.

Available in three colours — black (black tank and cap), white with blue cap, and all-white — the Adriatica blends into a utility room, near the water meter, in a garage or a pantry.

Food-grade cation exchange resin

The Adriatica is charged with a strong acid cation exchange resin of food-grade quality, certified for contact with water intended for human consumption.

Technical properties

  • Food grade — certified for contact with drinking water
  • High exchange capacity — stable performance over long periods, even after thousands of regeneration cycles
  • Controlled particle size — optimised size distribution for efficient ion exchange and manageable pressure drop

The resin is housed in a composite vessel engineered to withstand service pressures and repeated regeneration cycles throughout the lifetime of the unit.

Sizing — Which model to choose?

Choosing the right resin volume depends on several factors: water hardness, number of occupants, number of water outlets and consumption profile. The seven available models (10 L, 14 L, 16 L, 18 L, 22 L, 25 L, 30 L) cover the full range of residential needs.

Contact the DIMM technical team for tailored sizing based on your water analysis and consumption profile. Correct sizing ensures optimal regeneration frequency and maximum resin lifespan.

Installation and connection

The Adriatica has been designed for quick and straightforward installation by any qualified plumber. The stainless steel bypass supplied as standard greatly simplifies the plumbing work.

Installation steps

  1. Position the softener close to the main water inlet, on a flat and stable surface, protected from frost
  2. Connect the water inlet and outlet via the supplied stainless steel bypass, using mandatory flexible hoses
  3. Connect the drain hose to a regulatory siphon (mandatory under applicable standards)
  4. Plug in the valve power supply (transformer provided)
  5. Fill the brine tank with tablet salt (regeneration salt)
  6. Program the unit: operating mode, resin capacity and cycle times
  7. Run an initial regeneration cycle to commission the resin
  8. Adjust the mixing valve to achieve the desired residual hardness

Regulatory requirement — A non-return valve must be installed upstream of the softener, in accordance with Belgian and French regulations, to prevent treated water from flowing back into the public supply network. Ensure that regeneration waste water is properly drained.

Placement recommendations

The Adriatica should be installed in a frost-free, ventilated location close to a drain. A utility room, garage or pantry are ideal. Allow enough clearance above the unit for access to the brine tank and valve.

Routine maintenance

The Adriatica softener is designed to operate autonomously with minimal upkeep. A few simple tasks are all that is needed to ensure long-lasting performance.

  • Salt level — Check the level in the tank once a month and top up with tablet salt. Avoid rock salt, which contains impurities that can clog the brine system
  • Brine tank cleaning — Drain and clean the brine tank once a year to remove deposits and any salt bridges
  • Resin cleaner — An annual treatment with a dedicated resin cleaner (e.g. Resinol or equivalent) extends resin exchange capacity and prevents bacterial contamination
  • Hardness check — Test residual hardness at the softener outlet with a TH test kit every 6 months
  • Float inspection — Check that the dual-safety float is functioning correctly during the annual tank clean
  • Professional service — DIMM recommends an annual inspection by an authorised technician to check the valve, resin and the entire hydraulic circuit

Spare parts — DIMM holds permanent stock of all spare parts for the valves and the Adriatica range: seals, pistons, injector circuits, replacement resin.
