UTAH range overview
The UTAH by DIMM range is a family of residential water softeners designed for the Belgian and French markets. Three models — 10 L, 22 L and 25 L — cover the needs of 1 to 6 people. Their common feature: volumetric co-current regeneration (down-flow) controlled by the Floteck BNT-850 electronic valve, with a DIMM-exclusive.
The co-current (down-flow) technology of the UTAH range regenerates the resin from top to bottom. Combined with the Floteck BNT-850 volumetric valve, it ensures optimised salt consumption, reduced by 30–50% lower salt consumption at equal capacity, consistently high treated water quality (near-zero residual hardness), and extended resin lifespan.
DIMM Exclusive — The brine tank fitted on UTAH softeners is a specification exclusive to the DIMM network. The Floteck BNT-850 valve is a proven component, also used on other ranges (Triton, Wako, Trinidad, Odessa…), but the UTAH brine tank is not available from third-party distributors.
The Floteck BNT-850 valve in detail
The technological heart of the UTAH range is the Floteck BNT-850 electronic valve. This valve automatically manages the entire regeneration cycle:
- Volumetric regeneration — triggered only when resin capacity is depleted, measured by a built-in meter
- Calendar forcing — automatic regeneration if no cycle has occurred during the programmed period (0 to 99 days), to prevent bacterial stagnation
- Holiday mode — reduces regeneration frequency during extended absence
- Co-current (down-flow) — top-to-bottom regeneration, proven and reliable technology
- LCD display — remaining volume, time, regeneration status
The valve is powered by 220–240 V AC (transformer supplied) and operates at pressures of 2 to 8.6 bar, for water temperatures of 4 to 43 °C.

Calculation example — For water at 30 °f with the 25 L model at standard dosage (96 g/L): 165 ÷ 30 = 5.5 m³ of softened water between regenerations, approximately 11 days for a 4-person household consuming 500 L/day.
Design and ergonomics
The UTAH range features a compact monobloc cabinet in white ABS with a turquoise decorative band, integrating the resin bottle and salt tank in a single unit. The flush-mounted lid provides a sleek appearance that fits into a utility cupboard, pantry or garage.
Practical points:
- Built-in bypass with 3/4" angled connections — simplified installation
- Top-access salt filling (removable lid)
- No complex programming: set inlet hardness and resin volume, the valve calculates the rest
Certifications and compliance
All UTAH models are certified to the following standards:
- NSF/ANSI 44 — Water softener performance (leading North American standard)
- CE — European conformity
- ACS — Sanitary Conformity Attestation (France) — drinking water contact
- KTW — Plastic materials in contact with drinking water (Germany)
- W270 — Microbiological growth on materials in contact with drinking water (Germany)
The resins used are food-grade, compliant with European standard EN 14743 for domestic water softeners.
Which UTAH model to choose?
The choice between the 10 L, 22 L and 25 L models depends on water hardness, number of occupants and consumption profile.

Installation and commissioning
Installing a UTAH water softener is within reach of a qualified installer in under 2 hours:
- Position the unit near the main water inlet, on a flat surface
- Connect the water inlet and outlet via the supplied 3/4" bypass
- Connect the drain hose (drainage or siphon)
- Plug in the power supply (220–240 V transformer supplied)
- Fill the salt tank (tablet salt recommended)
- Program the inlet hardness on the BNT-850 valve
- Run an initial regeneration cycle
Important note — A non-return valve upstream of the softener is mandatory under Belgian and French regulations to prevent softened water from flowing back into the public network.
Routine maintenance
The UTAH water softener requires minimal maintenance:
- Salt — Check the level monthly, top up with tablet salt (avoid rock salt)
- Resin cleaner — Annual treatment with a resin cleaner (e.g. Resinol) extends resin lifespan
- Residual hardness — Test with a TH kit every 6 months
- Professional service — DIMM recommends an annual check by an authorised technician
